Finnair Start New Route to Japan

In June 2006 Finnair will start three flights a week to Nagoya, Japan’s fourth biggest city and home to many of Japan’s top companies head offices.

This will increase Finnair’s Japan destinations to three cities with the airline offering flights from London, Manchester and Edinburgh to Osaka, Tokyo and Nagoya via Helsinki at a flight time of around 14 hours 35 minutes. Stopovers are possible in Helsinki at no extra cost making it a great way to see two countries in one holiday.

Passengers flying to Japan with Finnair can now be assured of a great sleep as Finnair are the first Nordic airline to introduce new lie-flat seats on all of its long haul flights.  Finnair now offer 36 lie flat seats in Business Class instead of the 42 seats that they previously offered, giving passengers an extra 50 to 63 inches between the seats.

The seats functions prevent its backrest from reclining into the seats area of the passenger behind, rather, with the aid of a quiet electronic mechanism, its back slides into position, allowing rest and sleep in the passenger’s own personal area.  The height of the seat and lumbar region support can be controlled in addition to the reclining feature.

There are storage areas for magazines and laptops in the separating partitions between the seats along with their own personal power outlet for personal computers or DVD players.  Satellite telephones are also available for passengers use and most Boeing MD-11 aircraft also have fax sending capabilities.  In addition to the lie-flat seats, improvements also include new LCD monitor technology in economy class.
